2012 FRC Kick-Off was on Saturday, January 7th! As a Robotic Team, we participated in this Kick-Off. During this program, we attended different kinds of workshops like electronics, frame assembly and transmission. Besides all of these technical struggles during the workshop, we also had the chance to meet with other robotic teams from other schools. For our Robotic Team, First Robotics Competition is not only competition, it is one of the greatest chances:
-to learn from professional engineers -to build and compete with a robot of their own design -to compete and cooperate in alliances and tournaments -to qualify for nearly $14.8 million in college scholarships

| Biomedical Science students watched live surgery at the school |
Harmony Science Academy Dallas High School offers a PLTW Biomedical Sciences course to the high school students. The students taking this course had an excellent opportunity to watch live surgery at school. The school collaborated with Stream Venue Health Care Inc. and Texas Institute of Surgery. The students watched a live hip arthroscopy surgery on screen and also were able to ask questions at the same time. The students saw the surgery from the very beginning, from patient prep to nearly the completion of the surgery. This was a great learning experience for all the students. Most of these students are looking forward to medicine as a career and watching live surgery allowed them to get a feel for what the medical field is like. They also became aware of how a team of various medical professionals work together to perform surgery and how the job of each individual is equally important.

| Letter to Key Stakeholders Regarding The New York Times Article |
From Superintendent Dr. Soner Tarim To the Harmony Public Schools Community: A disappointing article on charter schools in this week's New York Times attempts to put Harmony Public Schools in Texas in a context that is not accurate, necessitating this brief response. Many of us at Harmony Schools cooperated extensively with the Times on this story over the last several months, providing documents, interviews, tours and dozens of detailed responses to specific questions in good faith. But, as sometimes happens, the end result was not entirely what we had hoped. See the rest of Dr. Soner Tarim's response here: http://harmonytx.org/news/122/letter-to-stakeholders-on-ny-times-article/
