Robotics Arm

We have always faced the need for prosthetic equipment but these prosthetics systems could go as high as 80, 000 dollars. The Engineering Automation and Robotics class at Harmony Science Academy Dallas High School found a way to create a prosthetic arm with a budget less than 50 dollars. Their PBL project for the current 9 weeks was about finding a way to create a functional arm-hand. Students needed to do research, designs, design a web page, and create the arm as real as possible with controllable movement. Students solve the problem by using different approaches, some pick materials like wood and a few motors to simulate movement, while others 3D print their design and use Arduino micro controller cards to control movement of the hand. They created a presentation for teachers and Staff to showcase their unique ideas. We were impressed by their presentations and designs since all designs worked perfect.

Let's Talk!

Attention Parents, Students, Staff and Community Members! We'd like to introduce you to the newest way to communicate with anyone at Harmony Public Schools -

"Let's Talk!" You have two ways to utilize "Let's Talk!" to reach a teacher, principal, other administrator or to send suggestions, concerns and compliments: log in to your student's database and click the green "Let's Talk!" button OR click on the "CONTACT" tab on this campus website, and then again click the green "Let's Talk!" button.

Once you've made it to our "Let's Talk!" landing page, please either utilize the search bar to message the individual of your choosing, or feel free to click on the button you feel most closely represents who you want to contact. Please keep in mind the best way to resolve your concern or issue is to contact the CAMPUS first, and if needed, the CLUSTER SUPERINTENDENT next. Directly contacting the Harmony Central Office FIRST will only route you back to your campus principal. We hope you will find this program useful and beneficial in your efforts to communicate with our campus.

Thank you!

Field trip to UTSouthwestern Medical Center

Thirty-two students from biomedical pathway class at HSA-Dallas visited a surgical simulation lab in UT Southwestern Medical Center on September 24th. They practiced basic vital sign recognition and emergency room skills on a real, human-sized manikin which had several traits of a real patient: a heart-beat, a pulse and moving eyes. Students also learned suturing and other basic surgical skills. It was a fun and interactive practice for our students, who have brought home priceless experience that will help them in their future medical careers.
